Can I claim a criminal record check as a business expense on my statement of business activities form if I am a self employed individual and if so, what type of expense category is this?
If it was a necessary factor in operating the business ,it could be viewed as a business expense similar to license fees, etc. Be sure to keep the receipt in case CRA does ask to see it. This could go under any administration fees.
