I don't want to bother paying the extra, if claiming it is no benefit to me now. I'm not sure if they changed the criteria for home based business. I called CRA but they were no help.

We can't see your returns, so we can't tell you how your self-employment will affect your return. But the CRA does require you to report all taxable income on the appropriate forms, so we would advise you to include your business on your return.
