Wife lives outside canada, if i check the box that says idon't know her income my refund is big, if i check i now i'm not eligible for spousal amount, refund is .12 cents

Is your spouse or common-law partner's net income zero? (No Yes)
Note: It is important that you enter spousal income as it may affect your refund or balance due amount.
Check this box if you don't know your spouse or common-law partner's net income

1.Do you want TurboTax to calculate whether you are eligible for a full or partial spousal amount credit?
Yes, I will provide my spouse's information for TurboTax to do this calculation
2. No, I know that I am not eligible to claim the spousal amount

how do i answer this question? if i pick 1, my refund is quite reasonable, if i pick 2, my refund in 0.12 cents

It's important to file an accurate return that you can support with receipts and other documents. If you choose to answer the question to calculate a better refund than you're actually eligible for and the CRA follows up, you could be in big trouble.

If your wife doesn't have any income or makes less than about $15,000 CDN, then you're eligible for the spousal amount.

If your wife makes more than $15,000 CDN, you aren't eligible for the spousal amount.

You're eligible only if your wife made less than $15,000 CDN. Her residency status is irrelevant.
