Can I claim for kilometer used on my wife monthly check-up to Saskatoon with 280 km one-way from our location or this only applies if we moved?

To claim medical transportation and travel expenses, the following conditions must be met:

  • substantially equivalent medical services were not available near your home
  • you took a reasonably direct travelling route
  • it is reasonable, under the circumstances, for you to travel to that place for those medical services

When you travel more than 80 km one way for medical purposes you can also claim meals and accommodation if that is required.  The mileage rate for Saskatchewan is 46 cents per km.
