Can I claim the registration fee/travel/hotel for my professional development course from an institution in the USA?It was not a university/college.I am not self-employed

Professional development course in the USA, I had to travel to the USA for course. It was not through a formal university or college. I am not self-employed. They do not issue a Canadian tax form.

According to CRA you can claim the fees paid to a post-secondary educational institution outside Canada for courses that are not at the post secondary school level as long as you are:

  • at least 16 years of age at the end of the year
  • enrolled in the educational institution to obtain skills for, or improve their skills in, an occupation
  • paying an amount of more that $100

Travel and hotel would not be eligible.
