The CESB is not social assistance nor unemployment income. The CESB is a financial support program for students, administered COVID-19 benefit.

For more information on how to file CESB on your tax return, follow these steps:

  1. The CRA will send you a T4A tax slip, or you can access it on CRA my Account

Quebec residents will get both a T4A slip and an RL-1 slip.

  2. On TurboTax under T-slips click on T4A - Pension, Retirement, Annuity, and Other Income
  3. Your CESB amount is shown in box 198 Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB).
