Hello, I have a side hobby which generates income. I took an online course (not university) to improve my skills. Can I claim this in my expenses as self employed?

I sell art through my website and took a shopify webs building course so I could design and maintain my own website for me art.

If the course was taken to improve or update existing skills, you can claim it under "Other Expenses". If the course was to learn new skills, then you would not be able to claim it as a self-employment expense, as it would be considered a capital cost.
