How do I defer my tuition amounts to future years? The software asks me what my unused amounts are but doesn't ask me what I want to use, it just uses everything.

The CRA requires that you claim all the tuition amounts you need to reduce your tax payable to zero.

You can only carry forward amounts to a future year (or transfer to a parent, spouse, etc.) that you don't need on your current year return to reduce your tax payable.

Make sure you’ve entered all your income information in TurboTax. Your income helps determine your balance owing, and your balance owing helps determine how much tuition you’ll be able to transfer or carry forward to a future year.
