How does surviving spouse make repayment of home buyers plan payments for deceased spouse?

deceased spouse still owes HBP from RSP loan. How do I as surviving spouse take it over and repay it?

Hi, @connienelsontink. First of all, I would like to say I am sorry for your loss.

I found this information on the CRA's site: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/rrsps-related-plans/death-rr...

On this page, it says that if a surviving spouse elects to make the repayments of the HBP of the deceased spouse, then the amount would be treated as if the surviving spouse had withdrew it. It would effectively become your owed balance to the HBP.
