I am a single parent of a 17 year old whose income was 7334.59. Does he need to file a return for 2016? Do I need to claim his income on my return?

You would not claim his income.  He does not necessarily have to file as he made less income than his personal deductions.  It may be to his benefit to file as he will get his income tax withheld by the employer back as well as some of his CPP.
