I cant enter a date other than 1/1/2017 to 31/12/2017 and receive an amount. When I enter another 12 mth period 1/12/2016 to 30/11/2017 no deduction shows.

What type of credit or deduction are trying to change the dates on?

Was trying to enter a date for Medical expenses

I cant enter a date other than 1/1/2017 to 31/12/2017 and receive an amount. When I enter another 12 mth period 1/12/2016 to 30/11/2017 no deduction shows.

In order to change the date on your medical expense claim, you'll need to:

  1. Make sure you have selected  - Medical receipts - 2016 (Unclaimed receipts only), prior to entering your receipts.
  2. Check each receipt you have entered to be sure they fall within the date range you wish to use. They may have defaulted to a Dec 31st, 2017 and need to be changed.
  3. On the Medical Expense claim page, change the dates to the range you wish to use.

If you have included an amount for Private Health Service Premiums (PHSP) from your T4 this may affect the claim period as it is recognized as a Dec 31st, 2017 date.

Hello, I’m having the same problem and tried your advice but its still not working for me. I’m trying to change the date for the medical expense year to Oct 30 2021 to Oct 29 2022. My expenses are all within these dates. I also have Home accessibility amounts to claim for the same period. When I enter the dates of the home renovations ( 2021 and 2022) then try to move to the next screen I get an error in RED advising me to change the dates to the current tax year.  Help!
