My wife passed away. It states "you cannot prepare both returns at same time." How do I average pension income if I do returns separately?

I would suggest doing connected returns as though she were still alive, do your entry, so that you can copy the results, then start a new return for your wife.  Only netfile your own return, and the individual one for your wife.
