Im trying to claim my tuition this year and when I punch it in the T2202A it automatically carries it over to a future year. How can I go about claiming it for this year?

The tuition credit is a non-refundable tax credit. This means that you only get it if you have taxes payable – the tuition will be used to reduce your taxes owing to zero if possible. If you don’t owe any taxes, you don’t get the credit. Instead the amounts will carry forward into future years, until the full amount has been used up.
