It would depend on you and your husband’s situation. If he has a very large income, he may still need other deductions to reduce his taxes owing. There are also other deductions that can be carried forward, so he can use them next year. For example, if you have medical expenses to deduct, but a low income, you won’t be able to claim the deduction. But he might be able to claim them next year.
