My mother-in-law lives in a retirement residence. She does not require attendant care. Per statement received, what expenses can I claim and are they medical or rent?

You can claim medical expenses that she paid for and has receipts for. You will enter the amount of rent she paid in the "Provincial" section so that she can get the Trillium credit.
