We are currently paying into a the United Kingdom government pension. Can any of this be claimed?

You cannot claim pension scheme contributions unless they are deducted at source by an employer and shown on a T4.

On the other hand, UK Stae Pension received from Tyneview Park is fully taxable in Canada.

Also be aware that as of today, UK Stae Pensions are not cost of living indexed for Canadian residents.
