In most cases, a Relevé 27 is issued for information purposes only; You don't enter it your tax return.
There are a couple of exceptions:
If you're the owner of a taxi permit and received a Relevé 27 for compensation for the permit's loss of value, you enter info from your RL-27 in the self-employment section of TurboTax, to reduce the capital cost of the license and the undepreciated capital cost of the depreciation category of the permit.
Note: It can also lead to recovery amortization at the end of the year in which you received compensation if it exceeds the PNACC of the category.
If you received a payment related to self-employment, you must decrease the amount of the related expense or reduce the capital cost of the property that was financed and enter it as other income in the self-employment section of TurboTax.
To jump to the self-employment section of TurboTax:
- In the upper-right corner of your screen, select Find*.
- In the Find window, type Self-employment and select Go.
