Claiming a Dependent

Can I claim my adult son (19 years), full time student on my taxes if he filed his own taxes?

Claiming a Dependent

Yes if your 19 year old is a full time student he can be claimed as a dependent even if he filed a tax return to get a refund for the tax withheld from his pay.     But....if he messed up and said on his own return that he could not be claimed as someone else's dependent you will not be able to e-file.    Find out what he said on his return.   If he made the mistake that is very common among students and inexperienced filers, you might have to print, sign and mail your return that claims him as your dependent.   And he will have to amend his return.   But maybe he did not do that----just giving you a heads up in case.....
