2024 turbotax not updating

Can't open the desktop app today April 3rd. It starts, asks me to update, I click yes, and then it just closes down and won't do the update or let me skip the update and just open the program to work?

You can uninstall the software and reinstall it by using this link to have a current/updated version: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/desktop

Can you please run your updated software against an example where the person has a net loss and the split capital gains from the T3 are being applied.

T936 is NOT bringing the information over.   Schedule 3 is being updated but not T936

April 3 0921 hours - I have the same issue. 

 

Start Turbotax 2024, it says an update is ready, appears to download that and Turbotax 2024 never opens. 

Tried run as administrator, same outcome the application never starts.

Turbotax 2023 starts no problem.  

 

This is quite annoying.

Uninstalling

Rebooting

Reinstalling

Start Program

Turbotax now runs.  

 

Please explain why several of us got this issue.

Think I figured it out 🙂

Go to your Settings/ Apps and unstall from there.  Then reboot your computer.  Go to the link provided by the Admin and reinstall from there.  It worked fine after that

Same problem, Apr. 3rd.  I get all the prompts for installing the upgrade, then a window briefly pops up, then nothing at all. What's the fix Intuit Support?

Just spoke with TurboTax Support - they advised to open the program, hit yes for the update (because no was not an option), when it pops up to make changes to the computer - hit "No". I did that and it opened and I was able to access my work. The support person I spoke to is reporting the issue to IT.

I have the same issue. Turbotax has gone downhill. 

I've purchased for over 10 years  (probably closer to 15 or 20 but i lost count) and everything has been fine.

 

This year has so many issues and Turbotax just gives the runaround and does not fix their errors. 

 

I purchase for convenience and this year was the entire opposite. I probably could have just paper filed quicker. Getting the runaround on their error for 3 weeks. 

 

Most likely my last year purchasing. Huge regret purchasing when there are so many free options or lower cost better and more responsive options out there.

I also tried re-installing the app as recommended by TurboTaxAniqua and now TT crashes immediately, warning "TurboTax has encountered a corrupt or incompatible resource file. You must reinstall TurboTax"

 

My bad...you must make sure to UNINSTALL first and then INSTALL.   This sequence worked for me and preserved my tt24 files in C:\Users\xxxx\OneDrive\Documents\TurboTax\2024.  I had however made a copy just in case.

 

At least, at this point, TT starts and I can load my tt24 files to continue working on them.

I think if there are so many people with the same error. It is clearly their software issue.

Exactly the same problem Agent said they are having a problem with update. Try again tomorrow. Annoying because I want to Netfile my return.

The kludgy procedure of uninstalling and then reinstalling from https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/download worked for me. If you are worried that uninstalling might delete your tt24 files (it didn't delete mine), then a prudent extra step would be to make a backup of those tt24 files before doing the uninstall. I hope that helps.

I'm having the same issue.  Other are not having success with the uninstall.  I I'm hesitant to try that cause if I uninstall to I loss what I have done already?

Hmm, maybe not. Freshy salaries are pretty low. Might not be worth the paperwork cost to get him fired.
