2024 year-over-year comparison

Where is the 2024 Year-Over-Year Comparison.  It appears to be be missing from the 2024 TurboTax Canada.

Are you using a TurboTax Desktop Version or a TurboTax Online Version?

The Year Over Year Comparison will show in TurboTax Online, after payment of your return, in the Review section. The Year Over Year Comparison only shows the current tax year and the previous tax year. Also, be aware that the Year Over Year Comparison is only available if you transferred you previous year return into your current year return.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

It used to be available while working the return and was very useful for finding mistakes or odd amounts.

Are you saying this won't be seen until after the return is filed,? As the payment of the return is done at that time.

That would be a shame and a big loss.  If so, this might be the time for me to switch to another system.

It is seen before you file your return. It will be in the Review section- before you get to the "File" section.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

I have gone through the review section and am not seeing it.

I'm all the way to the "certify" step.

The "view detailed summary" link only gives me the 2024 data.

In previous years, I've been able to look at my comparison to last year as well as a comparison between my return info and my wife's info at any time.

I'm not seeing either of these options anymore.  Do I need to do the "certify" step first? If so that seems odd as I don't have my Netfile access code yet.

@skram, have you imported your data from one year to the next and passed the payment stage of your return?

Normally, Year Over Year Comparison is only available if you transferred you previous year return into your current year return, and after the payment of the current tax year. Pay your return doesn't mean you'll have to NETFILE it right away. As you know, to NETFILE, you have to click on NETFILE button and follow all the steps.

The 2024 Detailed Tax Summary does not reflect the 2023 comparative amounts

I agree. same here. very disappointed not being able to compare to previous year anymore. even the support team when we call them, first thing they do is comparing to previous year. big loss and I'm also considering not using TurboTax anymore

If you are using TurboTax Online, you will need to go to the Review section and continue until you get the page that says "Let's Review Your Numbers."

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

I did find it.  I had to get my Access Code from CRA and do the "certify" step before I could get to it.

I'm pretty sure that in previous years, you could start looking at year over year once you had any data entered.

I'm quite disappointed with the new version. Compared to previous versions, it is not as easy to navigate and harder to go back and forth through the return and between spouses' returns. It seems usability has been given up for it to look prettier.

Please bring this feature back to before making payment, it is a tool that I use to check quickly for any glaring items missed.  Without it, I may as well switch software.

I agree.  It was helpful to keep you on track to refer to last year's tax forms.  .  I really wish everyone on line would stop improving things because instead of improving it makes it all  more difficult?  Is I just a way to make more people pay?  I'm paying anyway, I wish it hadn't been changed as I used it often. .

I'm not seeing it after review either?

Yes, I liked the old version better  too. Maybe a make work project that most companies are doing now as it never improsves anything and just adds  more technological confusion.

Agree - last years version was much better.  It walked you thru from beginning to end.  This new version to never know where you are in the process.

@scofenn

If you transferred your 2023 info into your 2024 return, then the year over year comparison is after the page where you certify your info.

Just filed my tax return, but I cannot find the year-over-year comparison sheet. I had written down instructions last year for how to access it, since it was ridiculously difficult, but now everything has changed.

My instructions to myself from last year say to go to a section called "Tax Tools" - don't see that anymore. They also say to "save or preview this year's return. Choose the option 'Include government and TurboTax worksheets' - must include both because the year-over-year comparison is a TurboTax worksheet, and it was buried on page 126 of the 149 page document".

There was no option to include TurboTax worksheets. This year's document is much shorter, and I don't see the year-over-year comparison page at all.

100%   The redesign of Turbotax to eliminate navigation from the left hand panel makes it completely cumbersome to use.

And having to pay before seeing the year over year comparison?     FAIL!
