Hi All, I have pension funds in the UK who charge a service advice fee. Additionally I have commodities being held in a foreign country who also charge carry changes.
Can I claim these service fees as 'carry charges' and advice 'investment fees'. I declare these as foreign property.
Yes, you can claim carrying charges on foreign investment income and investment properties.
I don't believe you can claim carrying charges on foreign pension income because it's not allowed for registered accounts in Canada, but you can contact the CRA to double check.
If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281. If you are elsewhere, you can call 613-940-8495. This page has more ways to contact the CRA: Contact the Canada Revenue Agency
