Can Married couple file their tax separately?

Hi;

I imported personal information from Turbotax 2020 to 2021 software for myself and my spouse.

Entered all T forms and numbers, while trying to do efile, software ask me to answer a question " have you been together and not been separated for 90 days,...." ?

As soon as i answer yes, it will drop my refund amount to lower number.

Question 1: Can I answer " No " and file separately? Since CRA allow couples to file separately. Or CRA will combine returns later and recalculate the refunds?

You must answer truthfully. If you want to file separately you can do so by starting your return over from scratch. You still need to enter all information requested. CRA do verify household income which will in turn show if you are qualified for credits.
