Can we claim any portion (disability credit and caregiver) for 2016 for a dependent (Down syndrome) who passed away in July 2016?

Year of death does not preclude you from making the claim for Caregiver or Transfer of Disability amount.

If, at any time in 2016, you (either alone or with another person) maintained a dwelling where you and one or more of your dependants lived, you may be able to claim a maximum amount of $4,667 ($6,788 if he or she is eligible for the family caregiver amount) for each dependant.

The amount to be claimed is not pro-rated in the year of death.
