Climate action incentive lowers return...

Hi there,

While doing my taxes, I noticed that my return before applying the climate action incentive was higher. After it was applied to my wife's return she received the $448 credit, but my refund was reduced by $448. Is this normal?

Thx,

Derick

Yes, with TurboTax as soon as you enter your Province it automatically calculates the CAI credit and once you go to the "Provincial" section it will ask who will be claiming the credit -only one person per family can claim it. Therefore if TurboTax entered it automatically under your name then your wife claimed the credit then her refund would increase of that amount and yours would decrease. If you would have claimed it, then there would have been no changes to either of your refunds/credits.
