CRA represent a Client Question ?

Hi folks,

The Represent a Client process appears to work best when the "Client" can approve the Representative request in the My Account seciton.

Our parents had their taxes performed by a son who since passed away.

All login information has been lost.

While we now have Power of Attorney, it does not help with the submission process.

The site simply keeps throwing errors.

Has anyone out there had experience with this process ?

Thanks

I’m sorry to hear of your loss.

Are you having problems with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)’s website or with the TurboTax website?

If you are having issues with the CRA’s website, we would recommend calling them directly at 1-800-959-8281.

Please note that if one or both your parents owned a principal residence at the time of their passing, you would need to use TurboTax Download to prepare their taxes. TurboTax Online doesn’t have the needed form.

I have since discovered that the CRA Website Page does not provide any reasonable error codes.

The issue was with the name associated with their account & SIN.

I needed to find a document mailed from CRA, like a Notice of Assessment.

This document had their names with middle initials in the given name field.

Once I added that to the Client information page, it actually loaded and moved on to the next step.
