CRA Result Code: 84 #95005

Hello, this is my first time filing taxes in Canada, I filled all the required information, but I am getting this code, I put the correct date of entry, as well as the income I got for the period of time I was not in Canada during this year, but I am still getting this error, and I cannot file my taxes online through NETFILE.

  1. Your return has a date of entry indicating that you were an immigrant to Canada, or a date of departure indicating that you were an emigrant. To accurately calculate your world income, the Canada Revenue Agency needs to know your Canadian sourced and your foreign sourced income earned when you were not a resident of Canada. If these net incomes are zero, indicate this on your return as instructed by your software.
  2. You have reported an amount for Canadian sourced and/or foreign sourced income earned when you were not a resident of Canada. To indicate you were an immigrant to Canada, or an emigrant, you must enter a date of entry or a date of departure in your software. Otherwise, remove these amounts of income from your return.
  3. The year in the immigration or emigration date on your return does not equal to the current tax year. You can only report this date on your return if you immigrated or emigrated in the current tax year.Your tax return has not been accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency.

I got exactly the same error message and I reached out to CRA to make sure my info is up to date and matching what I've filled in the application and yet I still get the same error message over and over. The info on the CRA end is correct and it should match what I'm entering into the forms.

It seems there's an issue with the residency section of the form that might have a bug.

I've tried using different machines, different browsers, reset the machine, cleared browser history, different days but with no luck.

I am also facing this issue. I've reviewed my input information many times and keep getting this error.

Does anyone know if this has been reported or if the Turbotax team is fixing it?

It doesn't look like so. I even tried with a foreign income slip, as I was advised calling the support team and it didn't work either

I had the same issue last night, today I was on the phone with support, they couldn’t help me and adviced me to paper file instead or wait until they find a solution (who knows when).

Does anyone know how to indicate the income before enter Canada in zero as it says in the #95005 instructions?

@User86 There is an immigration or emigration date on the return but no entry on line 52920 or 52930 for Canadian sourced non-resident income. Enter “1” on the line if the amount is zero or negative.

There is no line 52920 or 52930

@Samer Harrouk We suggest you to contact our Product support team. They have access to tools we don't have here in Community, like screenshare, and investigate this issue for you.

Your support team doesn't have an answer to this issue either. I had a call today where I screenshared and there was no solution. So you guys have experience with this issue maybe from last year?

@Lolare Is this a joint return? If so, please check the  spouse’s or common-law partner’s name if contains at least one invalid character. Please make sure that the first character is not a period and that it does not contain a slash (/ or \) or an ampersand (&).Also If you migrated or immigrated in any other year other than 2024 you shouldn't be putting that on your return.
