Do I need an HST Number as a registered small supplier business? Netfile Error preventing me from filing my return online.

I'm a small supplier (<$30k revenue) and have registered my business to claim expenses. I did not charge HST and do not have an HST number in my business registration number. I get a Netfile Error to fix my business registration number to include an HST number in order to file online. How do I get around this?

"The GST account number for your business or rental property needs to follow the expected format of 15 characters (NNNNNNNNNAANNNN)... " - Error Description. I do not have the AANNNN component of the business number due to being a small supplier and not having a Program Identifier or Reference Number.

Leave the area blank if you do not have a number.

Even though I’ve registered my business and have a business number, but it doesn’t have a Program Identifier or Reference Number due to being a small supplier, I should just leave it blank? That won’t have an effect on claiming expenses?

You can leave it blank. It will not effect your return in any way.
