Entering CPP death benefit in Turbo Tax

I have 2 T4A(P)s forms. One is my CPP Benefits for 2022. The second is for my mother's CPP Death benefit. I have entered both amounts in separate T4A forms in Turbo tax. One in line 14 (Retirement Benefit) with the corresponding income tax deduction in line 22. The second amount ($2500 CPP death benefit) in line 18. No tax was deducted at the source so I was expecting my refund amount to be reduced as I understand I need to pay tax on this amount. But this did not happen. This $2500 was also not added into Pension Income summary line on the "Total Income Summary" page. Have I entered this information correctly?

A CPP or QPP death benefit will generally not be taxable where the recipient deals at arm's length with the estate (is not the beneficiary of the estate) and all of the following apply:

  • the amount is received by a taxpayer who paid the deceased's funeral expenses
  • the amount does not exceed the actual funeral expenses
  • the deceased has no heirs and there is no other property in the estate
