I have the same issue except the last 2 numbers. Client spouse's income is zero, so I followed the instruction to add "1". And I entered the same to the other lines as spouse didn't work at all and no UCCB amount to enter. This didn't work.

On the part of renters tax benefit, I deleted the second line as the client had 2 renters address within the year.  First address was rented for 9 mos and second was rented for 3 mos (current address). Since it says nothing should be below 6 mos, I assumed that the second address was unnecessary. Still didn't work.

All of these were done with TurboTax customer service representative and still found no solution. Now, I was told to wait for a call as she will place this under investigation.

Thank you for letting us know. You say the last two numbers. Do you mean the error number is different? Could you let us know exactly which error number you received? Happy you have a callback set up, they will be able to help you as they can view your screen.

Looks like I'm not going to get a callback anymore. I just received an email that my case is now closed 😳. Not very happy with it.

Have you tried deleting the rent credit info entirely and then reentering it?

We tried 4 different times to troubleshoot, and finally just decided to remove the rent credit completely(as we didn't want to get locked out) taking that loss and it submitted perfectly. If anything we will wait for our assessment and file an amendment for the rental benefit.

Unfortunately I forgot about being locked out. Now we have to file this by mail. Funny thing is, BC479 wasn't included in the package printouts. I had to manually print it and manually stated "0" for the spouse's income, UCCB,and RDSP.

I think the source of the software error is within the spouse's income and etc being zero. And they have to file individually. The spouse by the way is not a permanent resident of Canada and currently applying for Open work permit. Meaning she has no SIN yet, so no tax filing for her part yet.

@ApplesID I will pass on the info that you have shared.

If you are locked out of NETFILE, you can call the CRA to get unlocked.

This is the first time I experienced being locked out. Is this locked out refer to this client only? Because I still have other taxes to do including myself.

@ApplesID It would only be for that individual tax payer.

I received the same code (960576) and got around it by filing the tax return with no income first (my wife's) and that went through with no problem. Once hers was filed, I tried my own again and it worked.

Best of luck!

I have the same error code as well. The only issue I'm having is number 1 article 1. Spouse net income is zero, changed the value to "1", but same error is showing up. Can't submit spouse's tax return first as well because no SIN is available.

If  your spouse is a non-resident of Canada they can't NetFile their return you will need to print and mail it out. You will need to enter all zero's as their social insurance number. Please read the CRA information found here, as it will advise  you if you need to file for your spouse or not.

Thank you for helping.

I had the same error messages.

I did the same, deleted BC rental credit and it worked.

I didn't have a problem for the prior years. Just for year 2023 with the NEW BC RENTAL CREDIT. If i am not claiming the NEW BC RENTAL CREDIT thru NETFILE.  Is it possible to claim by paper?

@efn_ph You can NETFILE your return without the BC Rental Credit now. Then you can either REFILE later when the issue has been resolved, or mail in a T1 Adjustment Request to add the credit.

I have also faced same issue. But I already had done NETFILE. I want to know how to fill details in T1 adjustments form with BC RENTAL tax credit. Also what documents need to be attached with it ?

Any solution? My wife has zero income. Her netfile was sent, but mine is showing this error still.

Did two fixes and it worked for me:

1/ Added $1 income to my spouse's income through Non-T4 slip income

2/ Removed address and other rent details (that I had previously filled) from BC Renter's credit section and then, went back and unchecked the BC Renter's credit box. This ensured that Turbo tax online can eliminate the BC Renter's credit form altogether. I did not mind doing this fix, because I was not eligible for this credit. If you are eligible, you need to try other alternatives.

All the best
