Hi,
I live in QC, but work in Ontario (Public service). I downloaded directly both T4 from CRA, and Releve 1 from RQ. When trying to NETFILE federal return I am getting following error: "Because you entered an amount for Additional CPP/QPP contributions on the T4 in boxes 16A or 17A, you also need to enter an amount for CPP/QPP contributions on the T4 in corresponding boxes 16 or 17."
I have entered an amount in the 16 (CPP Contributions) and 16A (CPP2 Additional contributions). We do not contribute to QPP, so there is no amount to enter to 17 (QPP Contributions) and 17A (QPP2 Additional contributions).
This should be fixed asap as I am unable to file my return due to this bug.
Thank you.
This might be related to my question/error reported before. If you look at the form RC381 Inter-Provincial Calculation for CPP and QPP Contributions and Overpayments ... see attached image, Line 67 es per form labels, should be equal total of Line 65 + Line 66, in this case Line 67 should be 188.00 + 0.00 = 188.00. Instead the Line 67 is = 564.00 (so it looks like Line 67 is calculating total of the Line 64 + Line 65 instead).
As a result the Lines 68 and 69 are also calculated the wrong way. How to report this issue to your technical team, so they can fix is asap? Line 67 is the problem!
@eudra We suggest you to contact our Product support team. They have access to tools we don't have here in Community, like screenshare to see the issues to escalate into an investigation if needed.
Lot's of people are having problems with entries relating to CPP/QPP .
Here's another thread discussing these issues.
Hello,
This has been an ongoing issue since Netfile was available for this year. Is there an update to rectify the issue? I should have been able to file my taxes and receive my refund quite a while ago. Very disappointed with this service. Please provide an update as soon as possible. Thank You
@eudra Have you tried removing the amount in box 17 if you lived in QC but worked in another province?
I live in QC and work in Ontario. Box 17/17A is blank as no QPP contributions were made through payroll. Box 16/16A have amounts as CPP contributions were made.
@TrevorW87 What do you have in Box 10 as a "Province of employment"?
Box 10 is showing ON for province of employment. T4 info showing in boxes 16/6A. Box 17/17A is blank.
Box 10 is Province of Employment, NOT Residence.
My spouse and myself are also having this problem. It appears that everyone who works on Ontario but lives in Quebec is having this problem. Its an issue with your software.
@TrevorW87 We are aware of this issue, and our development team is working on a resolution. We appreciate your patience.
I have been waiting over two weeks to file my taxes due to this issue and I’m sure others have been waiting longer. Had I known the ongoing issue was going to take weeks and still be unresolved I would have mailed my taxes in. Is there an ETA for a fix. If it is over two weeks for a resolution then I might as well mail in. Very disappointed as I bought this software to aid in my tax filing and provide the fastest possible return.
@TrevorW87 Try removing the amount in box 17 if you have lived in QC but worked in another province.
As previously mentioned, box 17 is empty. It seems like we are going in circles here. Box 10= province of employment states ON, Box 16/16A has values as CPP contributions were made, and box 17/17A is empty as Ontario employer doesn’t make QPP contributions. Please provide a helpful update as soon as possible. Thank You

Do you have an ETA for this fix? Because this is kinda ridiculous.
Did any of you try filing with Wealthsimple? . I was unable to file with Turbo tax or Wealthsimple at first but WS support corrected the error I was getting and I was then able to file to the CRA 2 weeks ago . The error I had still hasn't been fixed by Turbotax.
I'm also experiencing the same issue as described above. Could you provide an estimated timeline for a fix? I'd like to file my taxes as soon as possible.
@MorganRae Try removing the amount in box 17 if you lived in QC but worked in another province.
I have no amounts listed in 17 or 17A. I have an amount listed in box 16 and another in 16A. Ive been doing this for literally 15 years.
The issue is TURBOTAX.
@MorganRae We are aware of this issue, and our development team is working on a resolution. We are hoping this can be resolved quickly. Once it is resolved, we will update you in this thread. We appreciate your patience.
Do you have an ETA for this fix? The deadline is approaching and we need this done.
I have been experiencing the same problem for the past two weeks and phone tech support twice. Spent over one hour over the phone each time and no fix yet. To add insult to injury, I get an e-mail after each call to inform me that my trouble ticket is now closed and I am requested to fill out a survey. I am told that a fix will be available in a near future but no one knows when and can't tell me how I will be informed that such fix is available for me for download. We are now in April with 30 days to go before the deadline. I have redone my returns twice from scratch (for my wife and I) to see if it was a finger problem and the results/issues are there same. After 10 years as a user of the TurboTax product, I find this very poor treatment of a loyal customer disgusting and will need to ensure Protégez-vous and Consumer Report are aware.
I am also getting the same error message about the CPP/QPP contributions and I live in Alberta. I double checked all the boxes and have entered them correctly. I think Box 16A is messing things up because I have never had to enter any amount in that box in the past.
Please fix ASAP. I would like to submit to the CRA. Thank you!
I live in Ontario, and work in Quebec (military). I am having the exact same problem. We don't contribute to QPP, and my T4 QC shows contributions to CPP only (nothing in boxes 17 and 17A), but the software demands that those amounts entered in 16/16A be entered into 17/17A, contrary to what my actual T4 QC shows. I cannot save and continue with my T4 QC; software won't let me. No issues when entering my T4 ON.
I did a screen share with a Turbo Tax representative, and they told me that the problem is with CRA (I don't think so, to be honest...it's the software). I was told to manually print off my return and mail it to CRA. But even my printed return will still be incorrect, since the software required me to add amounts in 16 and 16A into 17/17A.
