Failure to install

The install location come up on screen as follows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax2023\

This is followed by the message:

"The folder name you have provided contains characters that could prevent proper installation or use of Turbo Tax 2023.......Please choose another folder name. "

Nothing works, same message over and over

To resolve this issue, follow these steps in the order given:

  1. Look for forbidden characters (*, &, %, etc.) in the TurboTax installation folder's name:
  2. Use Windows search to look for the file TurboTax 20XX Installer.exe (replace 20XX with the 4-digit tax year).
  3. Take note of the name of the folder the installer.exe is in and examine the path to the file in the In Folder column. Aside from backslashes (\) to separate folder names, there should only be letters, numbers, or spaces.
  4. If the folder name is invalid, rename it by browsing or searching for it. Then right-click the folder, choose Rename, and enter a valid folder name. When finished, install TurboTax.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Tried all of the directions but there were none of the forbidden characters in the install location and could not find TurboTax20023installer.exe

However  I was able to install on another computer with the same install location C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\TurboTax2023\.

Would still like to install on the larger computer as I have some vision problems.

If you haven't already done so, try rebooting the computer that you want to install TurboTax on. Make sure the drive you are installing to is not a network/cloud drive, or drive that has been unplugged/turned off. Then try the installation again.

You can also try installing to a different drive or folder.
