I am a non-resident buy have employment income from a Canadian public company in Ontario where I was a non-executive director. Why does Turbotax not populate Ontario form

You need to switch from "Non-Resident" to Ontario on the Personal Info pop-up. Hit the F4 key (or FN-F4, if the f keys are set to something like audio controls) to get to the Personal Info pop-up.

Wow. Seems like that needs a bit of an instruction somewhere in the program. Somewhat opaque.

 

but thanks, will remember for next year. This year I filed ON428 by hand

Please select that you were employed and select T4. Also make sure your province of residence is one of the provinces in Canada. You can always correct or change your address information once you print your return to mail.

Nope, I think this is a software glitch. My T-4 reports "ON" in box 10, but no Ontario provincial return is generated. The shortcut for My Provincial Return in "View" is blank. You cannot search on the ON428 form under "Forms".

...and even if I put ON as the Province in my mailing address - this does nothing. There is a switch that is not going off.
