I have moved into a Retirement Living community, and I received a statement of account. Can I claim the total of the "eligible expenses"? This is entirely new to me.

Are these to be considered 'attendant care expenses'? I moved in late August but I still own a townhouse that I am trying to sell, but I am not living in now.

Attendant care would be services that help a person with daily tasks, such as laundry and housekeeping. For a Retirement Living community, the portion of your rent that you pay for attendant care and health care (nurse, personal support worker, etc...) would be eligible medical expenses.

You can double check with whoever runs your Retirement Living community what the eligible expenses listed on your statement of account are for, but it's likely that you can claim them on your tax return.
