Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Seems like a lot of people are experiencing this, including me. They're advising to uninstall and reinstall using the latest version available for download. Would be nice if they would just fix the bug in the update.

Now I can't access the turbo tax. I don't want to loose everything I've already entered. What now? Also still waiting for the updates for capital gains forms.

Having same issue and have 4 returns with information in them. The solution to delete and reinstall for a bug in your update is hardly an acceptable approach.
Downloading the latest version, un-installing, rebooting, then installing the latest version works.
@tswotton The kludgy procedure of uninstalling and then reinstalling from https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/download worked for me. If you are worried that uninstalling might delete your tt24 files (it didn't delete mine), then a prudent extra step would be to make a backup of those tt24 files before doing the uninstall. I hope that helps.

Who knows for sure? Look at the silly and vague release notes for today's update. Pathetic software engineering practices.
I have the same problem. Turbotax is going downhill. Huge regret purchasing this year.

Thank-you for clarification. Agreed return files were saved and available after uninstall and install process.

Thank you for the kind words @tswotton . TurboTax should probably put me on the payroll but I'm sure they can't afford a Software Engineer of my caliber. I make way more than a freshy's salary. LOL.
Thanks for the advice for the update issue.
Unfortunately, I've been waiting on Turbotax to fix another issue for the last 3 weeks. I'm sure you would do a better job than their developers. 😃

A few years ago I resigned from a company similar to Intuit that started offshoring Canadian Software Developer, QA, Tech Support and Tech Writer jobs. The product quality went way downhill after that.
@LG45 I totally agree with you. Rather than actually fixing their bug, they are making all their customers run around hoops to 'try' to skirt around their error.
I have a different error, waiting on 3 weeks for TurboTax to fix.
Just runaround after runaround. Definitely gone downhill.
Long time customer who will not be re-purchasing if there are constant errors and bugs that Turbotax refuses to correct.
Friends and coworkers tell me Wealth Simple tax is very good and use friendly. Cost for the higher tier is on par with TurboTax basic.
Same problem. I have already filed one return this year and am working on another. If I re-install the software, will I lose the previous return that has already been completed?
