Living and travelling expenses for working away from home

I have a home in Vancouver and I live in Vancouver but I worked in Victoria last year. I traveled to and back from Victoria every weekend to be with my family. I also rented a place in Victoria so that I could stay and work there on the weekdays. Can I claim travelling and rental expenses for last and previous years? Please let me know asap.

Generally, no. You can only claim expenses related to living away from home if your employer required you to do it.

Thanks. What about if I am self-employed or a contractor. Can I claim the same expenses?
