Does any one know why i am seeing a non capital loss from another year on my income tax summary when i have not inputted and such information. This is also causing me to upgrade to a more expensive tax package.
A non-capital loss arises if you had a loss from employment, property, or a business that wasn't a capital loss. A non-capital loss also includes the amount of an allowable business investment loss. Examples would be self-employment loss or losses from a rental property.
If you are still not able to resolve this issue, please contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608.
Called support line , no resolution.Nothing on T4 slip to indicate a loss . Entered information manually and no change . Any one have a suggestion?
Did you ever have a business or self-employment in the past which would still be carried forward through your return transfer? You may verify on your MyAccount at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to see if there is a capital loss included in your account.
If you've entered an amount from any of the boxes on the slips listed here, you have what the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) considers to be self-employment or business income:
T4 slip: box 81, 82 or 83
T4A slip: box 20 or 48
T4A slip: box 28 and you selected Yes to the question Does the income declared in Box 028 consist of fees collected for services you provided? in TurboTax Online (needs to say NO to indicate no self-employment)
T3 slip: box 24 (foreign business income)
One that would be easily overlooked. When entering the amount on box 28 for the T4A, there are two (2) Box 28s. It can accidentally be entered into the wrong Box 28. This entry error triggers the warning that states there is self-employment income. Once the value is entered into the other Box 28, the warning during the review is removed.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
