OAS entered exceeds maximum but it doesn't

Program says my OAS exceeds maximum allowed although the amount entered is the maximum allowed according to your program and Services Canada. I re-entered the amount twice and the amount of tax owed has increased twice. I shouldn't owe any tax. This edition is basic but doesn't even make the cut for basic. I have been with turbotax for years and always trusted it but this year there are serious problems. What is going on?

What boxes do you have filled out on your T4AOAS?

I entered the amount in boxes 18 and 19 as per the T4A (OAS) slips from Services Canada. I have solved some of the problem. It seems like there might have been an installation problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. The amount was actually entered twice. After deleting one, it seemed to be back to normal except the reviews. This is probably what caused the concern in the first place. In the review process it stated that I have exceeded the maximum OAS amount, both before and after I made the adjustments. The taxes owed was actually the provincial health care tax only. Just to be sure I did a manual input on a Revenue Canada income tax form and tax calculations and it came out to the same as Turbotax.

Sorry if I sounded alarmed but I did not expect an anomaly in the review process which also asked for reviews of a variety of items which are just standard inputs that were required.

Were you able to by pass the review section and Netfile?

No, I had to ignore the review message that my OAS exceeded the maximum OAS, because it didn't. The program does let you ignore the review message. I haven't used Netfile yet because the program tells me there may be last minute updates from Revenue Canada so I am holding off for a short period of time despite the fact Netfile is now open for filing.
