Marital Status Error

This error is concerning and making me lose all confidence in this software.  How unfortunate.  I'm having the same problem as identified above by others. I tried at least 4 time to do and redo my filing only to get stuck with the same error in the end.

I called the number mentioned above, opened a ticket and was told to submit the higher amount as I'm doing nothing wrong.

Now I tried to actually Netfile and I'm getting an error 'NETFILE errors prevent you from using CRA's NETFILE service.'

What is one to do in the end and who do you trust?  On the one hand you tell me to submit it, on the other hand you stop me from submitting, then again on another you guarantee the maximum refund and done right.  It's ALL EMPTY WORDS.  The only thing that seems to be working is the annoying constant badgering to upgrade and up sell me on additional products.

We appreciate your feedback. When you called in, did they share their screen with you? If yes and you are using TurboTax Desktop, did you enter the answers in easy steps or in the forms directly?

Yes, I shared my screen during the call.

I'm using the desktop application.  Before my last attempt (4th time doing this), I uninstalled and reinstalled the application, hoping that if there was a glitch maybe it gets resolved, but it didn't.

I'm using the easy steps method.

@Starting2H8TT Did you check on the S5-SUPP in Forms Mode to see if there was an incorrect information for Line 30300 or 30400? These two credits specifically ask for marital status changes.

I am looking at at S5-SUPP form (for myself and my spouse) and both lines 30300 and 30400 have nothing entered to the right of box 55220 and 55290 as well as the date fields to the right. This seems correct, as my marital status didn't change, hence nothing entered.

During the review process, if I choose to fix the error, those boxes mentioned above don't change, but the final tax refund/owing does change.

@Starting2H8TT  Did you transfer your 2023 tax return into your 2024 return, or was it all new from this year? If you haven't filed your spouse's return as of yet, I would start a new joint return. That way you shouldn't have that error message.

@TurboTaxAniqua I tried both ways (4 in total).  After wasting hours, I should have just done the paper route or gone with a different provider.  Anyway, I can confidently conclude that this is a TurboTax bug.

How is it possible for page 1 of my spouse T1 2024 pdf form to indicate that I'm married at the end of the year but for Schedule 6 box 38101 to indicate 'No'?  On the one hand I'm married but on the other I'm not?  I shouldn't have to answer this question more than once.

Sadly, at the last step, I'm being pulled a carpet from under my feet and being told that I'm entitled to much less than advertised.

Anyway, why is it that I'm still posting this after all this?  Maybe to save others some frustration.  For me, it's way too late (I'm beyond frustrated - life I will never get back).  I don't know why I paid money for this software.  Next year I think I'll be looking for alternate (possibly even free options to TurboTax).  My Satisfaction  is definitely not been achieved.  How do I get a refund?

it is ridiculous , 2025 I still got this same issue. next year I will try different software.
