I used to have 10 rental properties, now I have 4.
The list of T776 forms is all messed up, for example:
- we still the property that has always been on the 1st form, but now that form is blank and the property details are on the 3rd form
- the forms for the properties we sold are still there, although blank
- when I click on a form for a property that has now been sold, it pre-fills it and now adds it to my list of forms
How do remove empty T776 forms and put them in order?
Hi, you can use the edit / forms / Clear current form / close unused forms on the toolbar in forms view under the Turbo Tax logo. Before doing this, please make sure you do not have any amounts on the forms for the old rental properties especially CCA if you have been claiming that over the time that you owned them. It is probably better to wait until the next year after you have sold to follow the above procedure.

Is there a way to re-number the T776 forms or are we stuck with forms 1, 3, 7 (or whatever is left after unused forms are closed)?
For 2020 TorboTax Transferred T776 into my return. I have NEVER completed this in the past so I'm not sure how to Delete it. TT does not have a way to delete it only clear the form (which there was nothing in it to begin with)
Issue still not resolved after following your instructions.
Taxes ready to be filed but error asking to fix adress of rental property which i never choose in the first place still persist.
I would appreciate if someone can help
Sincerely,
HF

I have exactly the same problem. Please let me know if you found a solution.
I have the same problem, T776 has an error but I don't have rental income. I have cleared the form and closed, still pops up with error and can't netfile. I called for help and after a painful 1 hour and 15 mins she couldn't help me either ??
You need to delete the form. Can you please let me know if you are using TurboTax Online or Download?
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Downloaded version, I have cleared the content of the form and I've asked it to close unused forms. It doesn't show up on my list of forms. When I run the review it comes up with the error for it. ???
Thanks for your help
Please make sure that you have the T776 opened then go to EDIT then close unused forms. This should delete the form.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax
I am having the same issue. The form filled itself with date, industry code and my address. I don’t have rental property. Please advise

SOLVED - SOLVED --- I had the same issue, spoke to agent Fahida, Toronto, she SOLVED THE PROBLEM. She is going to post in this forum. Basically, the problem is with the T2125 and the T1 General. Make sure your name address etc. is all filled out exactly on these forms (it was just these 2 forms).
There is a glitch in the software (HEY TURBOTAX DEVELOPPERS THIS IS AN OFFICIAL BUG REPORT) that has NOT been solved since 2019 based on the first agent I spoke to. I was told first to start over the return, and i have 160 tax slips so uh-uh... A fluke I called back 2 hours later (8:45 pm May 1st, 3 hours before deadline) and got Fahida, who had someone with the same problem a week ago (my lucky day i guess).
The way I understand it is if there`s missing personal info (name address postal code city etc) on your t2125 or a mismatch with the T1 general, the software thinks you have rental income and generates a T779. THIS IS A BUG!!! You like me, try clearing the info on the form and closing unused forms a dozen times and it won`t work UNTIL you correct the name address postal code etc so it matches on T1 and T2125.
I walked through that with her. And then I closed all unused forms, the T779 did not come back and I was able to NETFILE. I`m taking 3 stars off TurboTax for this, that nearly caused me to have to print out returns after deadline and pay penalties and interest or at the very least spend half a day printing and mailing.

The solution for me after speaking to a very pleasant and helpful Level 1 support person who called a higher level support person while I was on the call ( took an hour in total):
1. On the blank line property in the Rental Summary page (RENT) summary re-enter all the data from one of the active properties.
2. Then Edit/Forms/Clear Current Form on the original active property
3. Then Edit/Forms/Closed Unused Form on the original active property
This should now have no blank lines on the RENT summary page of ( now all active) properties.
The solution from zee-Apostle from Farida did not work in the least for me.....
