Reporting Mileage Paid by Employer

Hi everyone,

I have a question.

My employer paid me a rate of .489¢ per km driven, calculated from the number of kms I submitted weekly.

Is this mileage amount to be reported on my 2021 Tax Return as employment income? I have not received my T4 yet.

Thank you,

Steve

We appreciate you choosing TurboTax and are happy to help you.

It would be advisable to wait and claim the information which will be on your T4 as the mileage could be included on the information slip as income.

To learn more about Mileage Reimbursement from your employer please visit the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) link   Automobile and motor vehicle allowances

You can also see this link about Reasonable per-kilometer allowance Mileage Reimbursement.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
