"Save As" is not working

Just downloaded today CA TurboTax 2024

Version 00.01.11

Build 1013 068G01

"Save As"  is NOT working

Why is "Save As"  looking for an existing file to save over?????

What is wrong?  this is pretty fundamental functionality.

I hit the same issue. In my case it turned out Windows Security that was too restrictive: Ransomware protection had "Controlled folder access" enabled.  Had to add turbotax 2024 as an allowed app...

As per your screenshot you sent, it looks like you change the path of your TurboTax installation. It is recommend not change it because it could impact TurboTax to run or save files properly. We suggest you to uninstall and reinstall.

If you still experiencing this issue, you can contact our product support.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Further Information:

De-installed TT2024

Downloaded and reinstalled the software.  Same build and version number.

Same problem:

TurboTax 2023 will do a "save as" to the same folder (...Taxes>2024)

TurboTax 2024 will NOT do "save as" to the folder (...Taxes>2024) or even to the 2023 tax folder (...Taxes>2023)

Any other ideas to try?

Install was all to the default folder.

Default folder is C:\Users\username\Documents\TurboTax

You can try saving to another file. Another explanation can be that you are trying to save to a cloud or network drive that is not accessible.  Also check security software blocking TurboTax.

If the issue persist, please contact product support. They will be able to assist you on screen.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

The only folder I can save files in is a folder with all sharing turned off.

During the first install there was a prompt to select what sharing was on or off.  This suggest that the selection mad eat that time was too restrictive.

After doing a complete de-install,  when I did the re-installs this prompt did NOT come up again.    How do I change the setting on this sharing security prompt?

Pro Rad:

Thank You!

Your suggestion worked. Yahoo.

Wonder what is different in TT 2024 from 2023 version that caused this.

According to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-endpoint/controlled-folders, "Apps are added to the list based upon their prevalence and reputation. Apps that are highly prevalent throughout your organization and that have never displayed any behavior deemed malicious are considered trustworthy. Those apps are added to the list automatically.".

So it's possible the tt2024.exe is just too new an app, whereas tt2023.exe is not.
