Spouse % of a T5 not working

Turbo Tax 2024... I enter some T5's, split 50/50 with spouse. Say that total is $10,000. It puts $10,000 on EACH T1. It should be $5,000 on each T1

We are aware of the issue with the T5; the CRA knows that the T5 has an error. We will let you know as soon as it is fixed.

Thank you for your patience.

Are you just looking at the T5 summary? Because that will show the total amounts that were put in the boxes. The division will happen on the T1, which you can see a summary of in the Detailed Tax Summary.

I deleted all my t5's and re-entered them.

The 50/50 issue on went away on Interest but NOT dividend.

Interestingly, after much research, the issue is..

When I enter T5 Dividend income, the system is ALSO putting it on the T1 Worksheet as an Eligible Dividend that I did NOT get a slip for. This happened the first time I entered them and after deleting all t5's and reentering them, it did it AGAIN. Therefore the income is getting reported twice which was why I initially thought the issue was with the 50% to spouse field.

To fix, I manually deleted the number from the T1 Worksheet. Had I not reconciled Turbo TAxto my input, I never would have caught this.

It did it again!

I put in a $10,000 T5 of eligible dividend income, split 50/50 with my spouse. It includes $5,000 of income on my dividend line. Great, well done.

BUT... It also puts the $5,000 on the T1 Worksheet as $5,000 of dividend income that was NOT reported on a T5. Line 6.

Now I show $10,000 of div income.

I called Turbo Tx. Useless. They say wait for a software update without understanding or acknowledging what I just explained to them.

So anyway, back in to the sheet I went, deleted the bad data, and moved on.

Has this been resolved yet? I checked my calculations today and it's doing the same error not splitting up 50% unless I manually reduced my amount by 50%. I noticed this was a common problem in previous versions of turbo tax. I even did my taxes against another software - which is how I uncovered this problem.

When will this be fixed or do I just submit my taxes knowing this problem wont be resolved soon?

@Melon732 It should be working now. Have you tried it again?

No it wasn't working as of yesterday. I ended up manually fixing it and submitting my taxes as there was no timeline given for when coding would be fixed even though someone brought up the error earlier this month.

I hope this coding error is fixed for next year. This is making me question using turbo tax next year given I had to do my taxes with another software to compare numbers between turbox tax and a competitor software.

@Melon732 in your T5s, did you have box 34 or 18? It looks like if the period is not properly identify in the T5s (issue that was reported by CRA), it's not working.

We made some tests on our side and the split is now working. Can you please try and let us know.

Thank you.

I entered bank interest income from t5 on my return with a 50% split with my spouse. It attributes all of the income to me. It doesn't matter which spouse claims the interest, it still attributes to one spouse. I deleted the amount and entered 50% on each return with a 100% inclusion.

I have never (to my knowledge) had these problems with turbotax before.

I'm using the desktop platinum edition and with the additional problems the t3's I will definitely be looking elsewhere for a different solution in the future.

Turbotax sucks!
