Apparently you can't add more lines to Form T1135 again for tax year 2018. This is a problem now for several years and has been commented on. Please allow more lines to be added. Your software is not keeping up with tax reporting requirements. Ridiculous that I have to go and fill our a form through the CRA website that has this feature. How do I trick TurboTax into not submitting this form?
Unfortunately, in TurboTax CD/Download there is no way within the program to add extra lines for the T1135 Foreign Income Verification form. We have mentioned this to the development team, but we have no word on when/if it will be changed.
You can, however, add more than 3 lines in TurboTax Online, so perhaps in the future you may want to consider using that version?
Turbo tax needs to fix the fact that you cannot add more lines to T1135 Part B, section 7. Telling us to use another version of the software after we have paid for the version that should be better than the free online version one is ridiculous.
If your developers can do it on the Online version, surely they can fix our CD/download version!!!!
So, now, I have to mail a paper copy in of the T1135.
There is another problem with the Online version.
Yes... you can add more lines, but the final PDF only shows 6 rows (on the Real Property) lines.
How can I be sure that the Turbotax system will send the complete (accurate) informaion if I can't review the PDF?
I too would like an answer from Turbotax on this. On the T1135 that I filled in online, I supplied many lines of information but noticed in the pdf - after it had been netfiled- that only a subset of these lines appeared.
Does that mean that Turbotax tossed many of the lines that I had completed? I assume, since I successfully completed the information online, that indeed the correct and complete T1135 had been netfiled. In other words a T1135 which was NOT like th pdf that I was able to view.
Will someone from Turbotax please confirm?
Thanks.
@msthompson - regarding " How do I trick TurboTax into not submitting this form?" , were you able to file the T1135 separately? How did you make sure TurboTax did not file it along with the T1?
Sorry but really not good enough.
I needed a fourth line to section 7 and, as a result, had to mail in form T1135 by going to the post office in person, at the height of a pandemic, and pay $11 for registered mail to ensure it gets to its destination.
This is a silly bug and I know because I am a software engineer by trade. It should have been fixed years ago.
I paid for Turbotax Premier and it clearly did NOT live up to its promise in this case.
As other have noted, the problem of not having enough lines or rows available in Part B of form T1135 (using the TurboTax CD/Download version) has persisted for several years now. The inability to expand the number of lines in this form has been a source of enormous frustration.
In order to be able to NetFile my return and T1135 last year, I was advised by TurboTax to "combine" my entries into the 3 available lines on the form and amend this online filing by mailing in afterwards a correctly completed T1135 paper copy, with an explanation why this amendment was necessary. A fillable T1135 pdf form can be downloaded from the CRA website and one can add as many additional lines as are necessary. If anyone has come up with a better workaround solution, please let us know.
Unfortunately, Intuit has been ignoring the many complaints and, once again, the 2020 TurboTax CD/Download version fails to offer an expandable T1135 form. I called Intuit and, after consulting with her superiors, the front-line agent told me they are aware of the issue and will fix this by next year. Seeing is believing, but let's hope this annoying issue will finally be fixed.
I had to switch to Download version from Online earlier today....guess what...because the Online version can't handle the extraction of my slips from CRA due to number of T5008 slips (under 200).
This is really funny and frustrating to see T1135 having the opposite challenge!
I agree with the other users that Turbo Tax needs to fix this T1135 issue instead of referring to its Online version.
I have the same problem!! This is so ridiculous! And it's a CRA-approved tax software? Wonder if CRA knows about this. I'm not buying TurboTax anymore unless no other software can do it either.
On that note, does anyone know if UFile Canada (one of TurboTax's competitors) can do as many lines as you wish? I'll definitely try it next year. (They let you do your tax return online for free, and only pay when you're ready to e-file. So it costs nothing to find out.)
Thank you for confirming that Premier does not add lines. I wondered because the regular will only add one line during review. I agree that it is shocking that this has not been fixed after many years and makes me question why they continue to fail customers in this manner.
To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. I have been using Turbotax for as far as I can remember. I need seven lines under section 7. I can go online on the CRA website and download a fillable T1135 with no issue and be able to add lines under any sections to my heart's content but somehow, Turbotax developer decided that it is fine to only have 3 with no options to add more while using the desktop version of the "UPDATED" 2021 version.
This thread was created in 2019 and still has not been resolved.
Will have to find another software for filing in the future.
I had the same issue. I had to revert to desktop version and now I am unable to fill my T1135 due to lack of lines.
I found somewhere in this community if you that the t1135 in Turbotax needs some entries in order to unfreeze the return for Netfile. In part 7 I wrote "See mailed version. Insufficient space" in the first column then on the same line entered 0.01 as a value that it could total. It also needed a country code so I added USA. This allowed Turbotax to complete Netfile. (It seems that last year just writing in the first column was enough but now it needs entries.) As in every other year in recent history I completed the t1135 from the CRA added all the lines I needed, printed it and mailed it to the Winnipeg address. I was using Turbotax Standard 2021 for Windows for the last time.
I found a solution of sorts.
This is annoying of course. You might even decide that $15 is all you will spend on tax software for 2022 and use a competitor for everything.
So, unfortunately for Turbotax, after 10 years of using their software and buy it again for Tax season 2021, I ended up filing with a competitor and paying their fee to file as it worked so much better.
With a competitor, I was able to
Hopefully, they update their software but unfortunately, I am gone as well as my brother.
