T3/Schedule 3 Capital gains

When reporting capital gains on a t3 slip and allocating 50% to spouse- the allocation is not made on Schedule 3 and 100% is reported.

@Rutabagaman

The CRA has announced systems tax calculator errors that may affect your ability to file. These errors are affecting all CRA certified tax software across Canada.

TurboTax is in direct contact with senior Government of Canada officials at CRA, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and decisive action to resolve these issues for our customers and all Canadians.

If you see one of these error codes, please visit What does my NETFILE error code mean and how do I fix it?

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Yes.  I've written about this and other related errors (T3 capital gains and prorations) multiple times.

@mpink

The issue is being looked into.

As a workaround, you can enter the T3 on both spouse's return, but manually calculate the split and set the "Your Percentage" value to 100% for each. The "Your Percentage" value just tell TurboTax to do the split, it's not transmitted to the CRA.

Yes ... rather obvious ... too many slips to deal with individual return manual calculations which is a primary reason I bought TurboTax in the first place.

I phoned to report the same glitch - I am still waiting for an email re their customer service.  Very poor service this year.

Unfortunately, the "help desk" believe this issue relates to the Schedule 3 CRA issues- which we clearly now know is not the situation since the Schedule has now been approved by CRA. I've also asked for a call back- but no luck. I've asked for a timeline re the fix- which should be simple (the T3/Sched 3 input forms worked last year).

I can only imagine how many returns are being filed by taxpayers who believe the allocation between spouses is being done incorrectly-

Yes the aggravation is incorrect statements by the "help desk" and no clarity on a timeline.

Exactly.  If TurboTax thinks customers are upset now, just wait til these people figure out that the software they thought they bought is significantly flawed and it's costing them a lot of money.   And others will probably never figure it out.  What a shame.  Spend $40 and lose thousands.  Not a great value proposition.

Another week has now passed with no fix or even timing on a fix to this issue. Please, please, please Intuit folks, please provide us with a fix or at the very least a firm date for a fix. A number of us are ready to file our 2024 taxes except for this issue. Not filing by Apr. 2, 2025 will delay the last Climate Rebate payment for us. Please, please, please Intuit folks, get his fixed.

The T3 is now being split properly in Turbotax Desktop. Please try updating your software.

If the update doesn't work, please try uninstalling & reinstalling the program using the download from our website. It will not delete any of your saved returns.

Looks like it is doing the split properly. Verified all the numbers on the T3 and T936 look correct. Verified thar the errors that are described from CRA, Code:#95365, look corrected. However when transmitting via Netfile, still getting the same error. Did the update, and also downloaded and reinstalled using your link.

Good morning, the capital gains reported on my T3s are not being calculated. When are you going to fix it? We are only 2 weeks away from the deadline. Thanks.

This is an absolute disaster, something that should be a simple correction is taking far too much time, and causing far too much grief for far too many people!

What compensation will customers receive as a result of this mess, how much loyalty and distrust is being generated by this whole situation.

The finger pointing by the CRA, the finger pointing by TT, in the end we are the ones impacted and having to eventually all deal with the CRA as a result of this and their overstaffed bureaucracy!

I used the suggested workaround to move any amounts from Box 52 into Box 53 such that Box 53 matches the amount in Box 21. I was able to Netfile both my wife and my returns. I didn’t have any capital losses so not sure if this has any affect on that scenario.
