T4A and T2125 creating two separate entries in Business Summary

I'm trying to complete the self-employment section of our taxes (my wife has a freelance graphic design business) but when I enter her T4A it creates a separate entry from the T2125 in the Business Summary section. Is this normal? If so, do I enter the fees for service amount again from the T4A in the income section of the T2125 I've created (under professional fees)? Or just the GST/HST? If I don't do this, it creates a negative value under the T2125 which concerns me.

When you enter a T4A with self-employment income on it, a T2125 will be created for it, with the T4A income already added. So if you don’t have any other businesses, then you can just use that T2125 to report all your income & expenses.

FYI: For tax purposes, you should only select "Professional" if you were a Lawyer, Engineer, Notary, Veterinarian, Chartered or certified accountant, Physician, Bookkeeper, Surgeon, Architect, Chiropractor, or Psychologist. For other professions or businesses, you should select "Other Type of Business."

What if I have received 2 T4A forms, each with a box 48 value.

These correspond to two separate agencies that I have done work for over the year.

Right now, both of these T4As were imported in Turbox as two separate box 48 entries in the T4A slip data entry screen, creating a total amount for the box 48 line item off of the two T4As.

From this, right now, the Turbo Tax software has create a single T2125 form with the total of the fees for both T4A slips and it will not let me separate these amount into two separate T2125 forms.

Is this OK ? Am I not supposed to submit two separate T2125, one for each T4A slip received or can I just proceed to enter all expenses on one single T2125 form ?

Thanks.

When you enter a T4A with self-employment income in Box 48, a T2125 will be generated. Therefore there will be two T2125 for each T4A self-employed income, business expenses related to each income must be reported on the respective T2125 form.

Hi TuboTaxNicola

Thanks for you reply.

But this is exactly what my problem is. I have entered two separate T4A slips in TurboTax 2019 PC version and I was expecting TurboTax to create two separate T2125 (one for each slip entered).

But instead, the TurboTax software has consolidated both entires into a single T2125 form showing the total revenue of all T4A box 48 instead of creating two separate T2125 (one for each T4A).

And it does not let me manually create a separate T2125 to split the amount into two separate T2125 forms.

What can I do here...

After completing the first business expense you will be asked if you have more than one employer if you select yes then you will be able to enter expenses specific to that employer/business:
