My sons has eligible federal and provincial unused tuition that he can transfer to me (turbo tax says he has both a federal AND a provincial amount - same amount for both). In 2019 the NB Government reinstated the tuition tax credits for students/transfer.... but when I open my taxes, it only transfers the federal amount and has no place for the provincial... it's NA.... is there a bug with the turbo software?
Ditto. Time to acknowledge and fix the glitch TurboTax team!
Me too.
The issue seems to be with the New Brunswick provincial transfer only, the federal one seems to work OK.
Although "Easy Step" allows me to input the transfer, the math doesn't happen on the summary sheet or in the forms.
Please advise.
I'm having the same issue as well... PLEASE FIX THIS!
I called the support number and managed to speak with an agent.
I explained the issue to her. She tried to do a screen share.
But then we were cut off. So I'm not sure she got the info she needed.
It would be nice to get an acknowledgment from Intuit that they
are working on the issue.
Add me to the list.
To be specific, TurboTax is not transferring the amount on line 59200 of form NB(S11) for the dependant to line 58600 of form NB428 for the parent. There's an option to override the line in Forms mode but if you do that TurboTax warns that you won't be able to NetFile. So, no workaround for now.
It would be nice if Intuit could at least acknowledge the problem and let us know if a fix is in the works.
Same problem happening for me. When can we expect a fix Intuit...or even just a confirmation that you've recognized the problem and have scheduled a fix?
I just found something in another post titled "Line 58600 - form NB428".
According to user richpell2018: "As per the helpline, the fix will be in the march 9 update."
I contacted tech support today (March 10, 2020) and gave them all the info. They are now aware of the situation and have escalated the ticket. They said I should hear back from them in a few days. Now, we wait.
Thank you all for your patience- this issue is being looked into - we will update here once there is a resolution.
Looks like it was resolved in today's update (March 11th). I'm able to input the provincial portion (only in the Form, not via EasyStep).
I would not call manual edits on the tax form a resolution. Hopefully the Monday will provide a further update.
Update: Tech support contacted me by phone and said an update that fixed the problem would be available March 16, 2020. We are now March 22 and there's still no update so I entered the amount manually in form mode and filed hoping everything will be ok. Very disappointing to say the least.
Please let us know how things went once you receive your NOA.
