TurboTax Home & Business = TurboTax Self-Employed

Are the two products functionally the same? I already have  2019 TurboTax Premier and have started to enter information into Premier product but may need to upgrade as I also have to calculate CCA.

TurboTax Home & Business = TurboTax Self-Employed

TurboTax Home & Business is the CD/Download version and TurboTax Self-Employed is the Online version. TurboTax Online and TurboTax CD/Download are two separate platforms.

  • With the Online program, you will sign in to your Online TurboTax account and prepare your tax return from anywhere you have Internet access. There is no need to download and install any program on your computer.
    • Payment for the Online program is paid "per return" and a prepayment or activation code of 11 digits is entered after you complete your tax return.
  • With the CD/Download version of TurboTax, you install the software in your computer either with a CD or Download. You can access your returns from your own computer, and no Internet access is needed.
    • The CD/Download version requires you purchase a 21 digit Installation Key Code (IKC) prior to installing the program.

Please see this link for more information: What are the differences between the online and the CD/download edition of TurboTax?

Note: you do not need to upgrade from Premier to either version to calculate your CCA claim.
