Using licence on 2 computers

My parents installed using the license code on their laptop and completed their taxes. I have now tried to install it on my MAC and when entering the license code I keep getting the following error "Something's not right, try re-entering your code." I have retried and verified that I am entering it correctly. WE have not used the maximum number of returns allowed.

My question is, do I have to log in under the account my mother created to completed on my MAC as  I created my own account and am trying to entire the code under that.

The FAQ's say you can enter on more than one device.

If you have TurboTax Online, you can only use the code once in one account. Using the code again will give an error message. You will need to login to the account where the code was first entered to prepare your return.

Hi,

Is this considered to be an acceptable limitation of the licensing for this year's product?

For years, I have purchased TurboTax and used it on two PCs, and it seems that now this year it is not possible because of the need to use an account.

It's probably appropriate for TurboTax to update the software to allow use of the same license code with multiple user accounts.

Is that possible within the next couple of weeks?

Please let us know.

You can still install the TurboTax Desktop software up to 3 devices using the same license code. However, you have to log into the same account that you have used to purchase the product to download the software on the other devices.

Thanks for choosing TurboTax.

I shared with my daughter and she had to login to my account, (meaning I had to share my login info) but also she had to call me to get the authentication code that was texted to me (which stated not to share) but is required for her to login.

That is rather disruptive at midnight.

Why would you do that?

@donreeds For the security of your account, you'll be asked to enter a Verification code whenever you login to your account on a new device or if you haven't logged in a while. It's extra protection to help make sure only you or people you trust have access to your account.

Please explain how you do that?  I just tried, using the same login and activation code that my mother bought and used on her PC and I get the error that "All available activations for that code have been used.  Error code:603" and it won't let me install the Desktop version that we bought at Costco because it says it's good for 8 returns, onto two PCs?  Only being able to install the software on one PC is useless when everyone uses their computers daily and we don't really want to have access to each other's financial data.

You will not have access to everyone's financial data—there is one account now per license code. You can still download to 3 computers maximum. You need to sign in to the account holder's account in order to download the software on a separate computer. Yes, it is good for 8 returns but you can only download it to 3 computers.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Thanks for the reply however, again, I am doing exactly what you say and it does not work.  It give the error code 603 that the activation code has already been used a maximum number of times (on her PC, once) even though we are both logged into the same (her) Intuit account.  How do we fix this?

@Popps Error 603 occurs if you have reached the maximum installation limits, which is 3 per license code for the TurboTax Desktop version and 1 for the TurboTax Online version.

I have installed the Desktop version (which I downloaded from TurboTax.ca) on one system. When my son downloads and installs on a 2nd system (I am licensed for 3 as stated above) using the same license code, he receives Error code 603. Something here is amiss. How do I get past this error?

@SaanichGAS Your son has to log into the same account that you used when you first used your licence code.
