If you have T5008 slips or imported them using the CRA AutoFill My Return feature, quite often the amounts in Box 20 - Cost or Book Value are missing. It is up to the taxpayer to complete this information so they are not paying Capital Gains on the entire Proceeds of Disposition.
If you need to return to a T5008 slip to fix an entry or add some more information (like the Box 20 - Cost or Book Value), in TurboTax Online or the EasyStep view of the CD/Download version:
- Click on the FIND button (little magnifying glass in the top right)
- Type in T5008
- Highlight T5008 - Securities Transactions > click Go
- Then choose the T5008 form from the T5008 Summary page and choose to Edit.
