I just finished using TurboTax for the fourth year in a row but after meticulously entering all of my medical expenses, my refund remained the same as the previous years. Why did it make no difference.
The medical expense tax credit is a non-refundable tax credit that you can use to reduce the tax that you paid or may have to pay. If your total medical expenses are less than 3% of your net income, they can’t be applied as credits. Please see the example in our TurboTax FAQ How does my income affect how much I can deduct for medical expenses?
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Really? I waited almost a week for a response and I get a form response, on a Friday, so now there won't be another one until next week. Without getting too specific, my income is less than 15,000 annually and my dental and medical expenses were over $4,000 and yes I have all my receipts. My return said $3700 of that was allowed to be claimed. Yet, when the return was submitted it completely ignored all of that and I got the same $75 refund as previous years. I put in for a refund for the fee I paid Turbo Tax since they absolutely did not fulfill their guaranteed best refund policy. Naturally that has been ignored too. I can only hope now that Revenue Canada catches your mistake but I still want a refund on your fee and I will never trust Turbo Tax again.
I have the exact same question this year. What was the outcome?
